It’s been a nice day, today, at I.S.I.S. Montevarchi

This is my first personal blog page.

I decided to start  a blog after a really nice morning I spent at Montevarchi (AR) at the Benedetto Varchi high school.

I have been invited by professor Paola Stoppielli to give a seminar to students in their last year. My talk was “Operations Research: the science of good decisions”. I expected a tiny group of lazy and distracted students, happy to lose two hours of regular lesson.

On the contrary I found myself in front of a huge number (60 ? 80?) of fantastic young students, who listened with no distraction my two-hours-long (no pause) lecture, apparently with great interest and participation. They posed several questions. They did not sleep, nor consulted their smartphones.
They found a numerical error in one of my slides. They asked bright questions. They made me happy and optimistic towards future generations!
